Bereavement Support

Grief is a deeply personal journey, and there is no right or wrong way to experience it.

Whether you have lost a loved one, are supporting someone through illness or

simply need someone to talk to, our team is here to walk alongside you

with compassion, understanding and hope.

Healing looks different for everyone & you don't have to face it alone.

Couple Holding Hands

The emotional impact of serious illness and loss can continue long after

a diagnosis or the passing of a loved one.

Our Wellness & Bereavement Support services provide a safe space for people

to share their experiences, receive guidance and find support at their own pace.

While we continue to support the families of Sungardens patients

through bereavement follow-up visits, many of our services

are also available to members of the wider community.

Healing doesn't mean forgetting.

It means learning to carry loss while finding hope,

connection and support along the way.

How can we support you?

Support During Illness:

When someone you love is receiving care from Sungardens, our social workers

are there to support family members too. We provide a safe space to talk,

help families navigate difficult situations and offer guidance as they adjust

to the challenges of serious illness.

Bereavement Counselling:

Providing compassionate support for individuals and families following

the loss of a loved one.

Bereavement Workshops:

Regular workshops that bring people together to share experiences,

learn practical coping strategies and find hope alongside others.

These workshops are open to anyone who feels they could benefit from the support.

Bereavement Follow-Up Visits:

Our social workers continue supporting the families of Sungardens patients

through regular follow-up visits during the months following their loss.

Support for the Community:

Some of our bereavement support is also available to people in the wider community.

This includes opportunities to come together, learn about grief and find support

from others who understand what they are going through.

Grief Doesn't Follow a Timeline

Everyone experiences grief differently.

Some people need someone to listen.

Others need practical guidance or the support of people

who understand what they're going through.

Whatever your journey looks like, you don't have to face it alone.

Our team is here to provide compassionate support in a safe,

welcoming environment where healing can begin.

What does our social workers do?

When someone is seriously ill, life can become difficult in ways that go

beyond the illness itself. Families may have worries about relationships,

finances, changing family roles, caring for a loved one, loss or what lies ahead.

Our social workers are here to listen, support and help you work through these challenges.

They provide counselling and emotional support, help families navigate

difficult situations, assist with practical concerns and connect people with

additional support and resources when needed.

They also support families after the death of a loved one, helping them through

the months of bereavement that follow.

Our social workers are here to support you, not to judge you.
